In 1995 icebreaker pioneered the first system of natural fibre performance layers - designed to make you feel and perform naturally better, whatever the conditions.
Why Layering?
Using the right sequence of layers is crucial for maximum comfort and performance in shifting weather conditions and activity levels.
Each layer has a specific role to play: start with next-to-skin layers to regulate your body temperature, manage sweat and resist odour, layer up with a mid layer for insulation and additional warmth, and complete with an outer layer for protection from the elements.
Layering the icebreaker way.
Our modular system of layers are engineered to work together like a single garment. Each product feature is purposefully designed to seamlessly integrate with the other layers.
Discover the benefits of combining icebreaker natural fiber layers, for enhanced performance in your outdoor adventures.
Inspired by hardy merino sheep, who thrive in scorching summers and freezing winters of New Zealand, we've adapted the incredible natural engineering of their fleece into a system of layers that support your body’s heating and cooling system.
Our modular system of layers are engineered to work together like a single garment. Each product feature is purposefully designed to seamlessly integrate with the other layers. When icebreaker garments are layered together, and not impeded by synthetic layers, the merino benefits of temperature regulation and breathability are optimized.
